Weight training with Tyler was the best thing I have ever done for my health. I at 39 yrs of age, i found myself starting to get a belly. I was skinny most of life and I didn't like that belly, and having had 2 surgeries for abdominal hernias, and re-accurring lower back pain, I decided to ask Tyler for help. I began to see results in three months without special equipment, excessive amounts of supplements, or dangerous supplements! Base supplements I have used are protein, creatine, and a pre-workout drink. That might seem excessive to some of you, but at the time I followed Tyler's advice because I had already done research and knew that he was honest and knowledgeable, plus I wanted to maximize my gains. But even without the supplements, I knew from the very first workout that I would get results! Within the first month, I was stretching after a workout and pulled a muscle in the middle of the left side of my back, and that lower back pain came back. Before, that pain would have left me near incapacitated for a week, but at Tyler's insistence, he lowered the weight load for a workout and asked me to trust him doing squats. With lots of doubt, I did a squat to my amazement with no pain and not only finished the set, but the entire whole-body workout! I will never doubt him again. 10 months later I am in the greatest shape of my life at 40, getting more attention from women than ever before, even from some 20 yrs younger! My co-workers, many who are bigger and stronger meat heads, changed from scoffing me to concern for me about keeping up my workouts. I am now stronger, bigger, leaner, with more endurance and discipline than i ever imagined I would have, and I feel great! Amazingly, I'm not even close to my goals yet. Furthermore, I can workout only 3 times a week in 1 hr or less and still make gains! I now know how to work out without plateauing and without getting bored! His nutrition program(not a crappy and unhealthy diet) is simple and has helped me to fuel my workouts, and stay lean even when I've slacked off of weight training for the last 4 months to due to vacations, working 56+ hrs a week, beer and sweets. I've only gained 4 pounds in 4 months due to me staying fairly consistent with his nutritional eating plan. One thing to remember though, it is true that there is no gain without pain, and you can't change your body in a healthy way in just a few weeks or taking bogus miracle pills that can destroy your health. Trust Tyler and follow all of his advice and you will be impressed. He has a genuine passion for this field and I truly believe that it is his calling in life. His self defense training is awesome. I've taken Muay Thai which I love, and some jiu-jitsu, both of which I highly trust and value in a real fight, but they don't come close to Tyler's program. I have more confidence as a Correctional Officer for the state of California, working at a maximum security institution, with Tyler's training alone! His techniques will be my base foundation for self-defense, incorporated with Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu techniques as secondary. I have not had to use his techniques and I would like to test them, but I feel sorry for anyone I have to put hands on

Training with Tyler Best was not only an experience in setting and reaching exceptional goals at an accelerated rate of accomplishment. When I first hired Tyler Best as my personal trainer, I was already a very accomplished martial arts competitor having twice before qualified for National level competition by placing at the State Level. However, I now needed expert assistance and guidance as I wanted to now not just compete at the National Level, but to win it and proceed to the Worlds, so I hired Tyler.
I met Tyler from his association with a good friend of mine who was a very talented Brazilian Jiujitsu practitioner who has now decided to embark into bodybuilding. While my friend had a pretty good, "thin guy" Brazilian Jiujitsu physique when we trained together a couple years back, when I recently saw him, he looked like a State Level Bodybuilder with muscles obviously popping out of his clothes. When I complimented him on his very obvious physique changes, he pointed to Tyler and said " what you see now is all because of my trainer Tyler here.
So while Tyler looked the part, as he is tall and lean and buffed out with muscles bulging, I was not looking to have bigger muscles, but more functional fitness and power while dropping weight as I had plateaued in my at 200lbs coming down from 258 lbs. It was not until a few weeks later when I saw a poster for a Martial Arts seminar hosted by Tyler, that I actually talked to him about his experience in training Martial Artists. Based on his intelligent responses, I decided train with him to learn his particular style of martial arts as I am a life long learner.
From the 1st day of training martial arts with Tyler, I was impressed by his wealth of knowledge on martial arts, physics, physiology, balance, and flow, and I immediately hired him to help me train for my upcoming martial arts competitions. What impressed me most about Tyler, is his HONESTY. When I hired him and told him that I had dropped down from 258lbs to my current 200lbs, but needed to get down to 170lbs for my competition in 1 month, Tyler told me "I can get you there, but it will not be fun, and it will be painful, and you will be weak because of our limited time frame."
Well being a seasoned martial artist, I was very familiar with pain, suffering, and being uncomfortable, but I just needed help to get down to 170lbs, as prior to hiring Tyler, I had hired 2 other personal trainers who were both very successful National Level Competitive Bodybuilders, and also a Nutritionist, but none of the 3 was successful in getting my weight to break the 200lb mark I was so stubbornly plateau at.
Training with Tyler, has taught me from this experience that I can and will accomplish things that others may say is not possible, if I put my mind and heart to reaching the goals that are important to me, as long as I am willing to make the sacrifices. The reason that this is so life changing is that for the past 20 years I have been a successful competitor, but Tyler Best taught me to think outside the box to break through my self imposed boundaries and limiting thoughts and behaviors. I cannot thank him enough as having lived through this experience had impacted other aspects of my life well outside of Martial Arts Competitions.
My personal and professional life have profited as with my new, "Lean" physique, people approach me for conversation, clients are easier to get along with, and my relationship with my family and loved ones are deeper and more meaningful because they are now open to me more for some reason that I have not yet figured out, but am truly happy that it is.
